Body Image and Self Confidence

So this is Love Your Body week. Not always an easy thing, huh? What do we base our body images on? I think it's probably safe to say that we all agree it's important for one's mental state to have a healthy self-image, but how do we work on improving our confidence? DO we work to improve it at all?

In the meeting today we discussed how external influences affect us. We talked a lot about media (of course), but also discussed how our friends and family are influential. If you're constantly hanging out with someone who has poor self-esteem, that's going to rub off on you. I know my mother, sister, pre-teen sister, and grandmothers have always been really concerned about their weights - even though most of them are healthy and really great looking - and that's changed how I would view myself. There's yet another reason to encourage each other! Personal benefit.

Obviously we'll never be completely happy with our appearences, but it really is important to gain a healthy level of confidence.
